The update released on 03rd November 2025 switched the Linux version from OpenGL to the Vulcan renderer as the default renderer.
This is because Vulcan is much faster and will provide far better frame rates and smooth motion.
However - whilst some customers could run it perfectly well, others got game crashes. After some time reasearching customers various problems we are going to revert back to having OpenGL as the default renderer.
Customers who would prefer to use vulkan can set it manually themselves with the -force-vulkan command line option when starting the simulator.
Unfortunately we cannot have the default client having crashes for new installers of the simulator, so the safe place to go is back to OpenGL and just have those who can and wish to run vulkan do so via the command line switch.
