This looks to be a directory type case issue.
The sim uses the following data folders ... /home/your-user-name/.config/unity3d/velocidrone/velocidrone
The older simulator version used a mixed case for this directory /VelociDrone/VelociDrone where as the new update does not use any mixed case.
So the fix to get the sim to start is to either rename these folders to remove the mixed case or just delete them entirely to allow the sim to recreate them. Bear in mind deleting them will lose all your sim custom settings from the previous installed version.
